RUGBY WORLD CUP QUIZ – COMPETITION RULES
These general terms and conditions set out the standard rules (“Competition Rules”) which apply to the Rugby quiz competition (the “Competition”).
Promoters: This Competition is promoted by THL MIH Ltd t/a WeChat Africa, a company incorporated in Hong Kong with registration number 2072010 (“us”, “we”,“our” or “WeChat”) and SuperSport.[●] (“SuperSport”). Collectively WeChat and SuperSport are referred to as the “Promoters”.
Competition Period: There are 6 competitions which will take place from the 18th September until the 29th October 2015. There are 6 weekly competitions in this period and one overall grand prize winner which will have a draw take place in the first week of November 2015. The competition dates are outlined below:
Competition 1 runs from 18th September until 24th September. No entries will be accepted after midnight on 24th September 2015. The winner will be picked on 25th September 2015.
Competition 2 runs from 25th September until 1 October 2015. No entries will be accepted after midnight on 1 October 2015. The winner will be picked on 2 October 2015.
Competition 3 runs from 2 October until 8 October 2015. No entries will be accepted after midnight on 8 October 2015. The winner will be picked on 9 October 2015.
Competition 4 runs from 9 October until 15 October 2015. No entries will be accepted after midnight on 15 October 2015. The winner will be picked on 16 October 2015.
Competition 5 runs from 16 October until 22 October 2015. No entries will be accepted after midnight on 22 October 2015. The winner will be announced on 23 October 2015.
Competition 6 runs from 23 October until 29 October 2015. No entries will be accepted after midnight on 29 October 2015. The winner will be announced on 30 October 2015.
The garnd prize is a random draw from every person who has played at least one quiz throughout the competition period. The winner will be selected in the first week of November.
Who can enter: You are entitled to participate in this competition if you are a natural person resident in South Africa who is at least 18 years old. If you choose an overseas experience, you will need to be entitled to receive a passport or be in possession of one already at the time the prizes are awarded. You may NOT participate if you are a supplier of goods or services in connection with this Competition, or if you are a director, member, partner, employee, agent of, or consultant to the Promoters or any other entity directly or indirectly controlling or controlled by the Promoters or any of their affiliates or a spouse, life partner, parent, child, brother, sister or business partner of any of the above mentioned persons.
How to enter: To participate in our weekly competitions, you need to go to the SuperSport Official Account, which is SuperSport’s official account on the WeChat mobile messaging application, and participate in the quizzes. We run one quiz every day of the week. You will need to test your rugby knowledge on each weeks topic and answer 5 questions a day. The more points you get throughout the week, the higher you will get on the leaderboard. The more days you participate, the higher your score will be. Each quiz is out of 5, which gives you the opprtunity to have a score out of 35 in any week. Note that should you wish to get even more points, you may share your daily quiz which gives you an extra point each day.
In order to be entered into the grand prize draw and win the grand prize, you will need to complete at least one quiz throughout the 6 weeks. Each time you complete a quiz on the SuperSport Official Account, your name will be added to the grand draw. E.g. if you answer one quiz, your name will be in the draw once. If you answer the quiz everyday for 6 weeks your name will be in the draw 42 times.
How many times you can enter: You may enter this competition only once a day by going onto the Quiz button and answering new quiz questions each day. The more daily quizzes you complete, the more times your name will be added to the grand prize draw and the better your chances are of winning
No entry fees: There are no entry fees to participate in the Competition, and no additional charges involved in answering the quiz questions
Prize: There are 7 prizes to be won. Each week we will be giving away either a Sprinbok jersey signed by the entire 2015 World Cup Team, worth approximately R10 000, or a signed Springbok Opus book signed by the 2015 World Cup Team, worth approximately R15 000. The overall grand prize is a Rugby experience to the value of R100 000 and will be organised by South African Rugby Travel. The prizes are not transferable and may not be exchanged for cash. If you are a weekly winner, we will get in contact with you and arrange your prize to be couriered to you. The winner of the grand prize will be contacted and put in contact with South African Rugby travel to plan your trip.
All expenses not expressly stated in the prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner. The prizes not include baggage or personal insurance, petrol costs, taxes or excursion tickets not expressly defined. The winner also agrees that he or she is responsible for any other expenses and satisfying any legal or requirements that need to be met to enable the winner to use a prize (including any additional travel arrangements as well as for the paying taxes and obtaining travel insurance). The prizes are strictly subject to the relevant sponsor’s terms and conditions relating to each such prize.
Winner: The weekly winners will be based on the weekly leaderboard. Should there be more than one person with the same score at the end of the week, we will do a draw between those top winners. This will be an audited random pick draw and will be conducted by WeChat and an auditor every Friday from 18th September until 29th October2015. The overall grand prizewinner will be randomly selected from the database in the first week of November. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into with a Competition participant other than the winner. The winner will be notified telephonically. We will attempt contact with the winner at least 3 times, but if we are unable to contact the winner within 3 days, the winner will forfeit his/her prize and we reserve the right to redraw the prize. The overall winner of the grand prize will be announced in the first week of November through the SuperSport Official Account. We may require the winner to provide us with additional information as we may reasonably require in order to determine the winner and to process and/or facilitate the winner’s acceptance and/or use of the prize. Should the winner fail to accept delivery of the prize, the winner will forfeit the prize and we reserve the right to award the prize to another eligible entrant chosen by lucky draw as aforesaid. Proof of identity may be required to receive the prize and we reserve the right to refuse handing over of the prize to a potential winner who refuses to, or cannot provide sufficient documentation to verify his/her identity. You may not win the prize if it is unlawful to give such prize to you and if you do win the prize under such circumstances, you will forfeit it.
The winner may be asked to participate in marketing activities, including by having his/her photograph taken, but he/she will be entitled to decline to do so.
Unforeseen events: In the event of unforeseen circumstances or causes beyond our reasonable control, we reserve the right to cancel this Competition, or to change the Competition Rules at our discretion, or to change the prize at any time without notice to you if circumstances beyond its control make this unavoidable.
General: By entering this Competition, you hereby warrant and acknowledge that all information submitted by you is true, current and complete. WeChat reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants.
The statements made above contain acknowledgments of facts by you. You must read the statements made in the paragraph above carefully and ensure that they are correct, as you will not be able to deny the truth of the statements. The Promoters and/or other persons may also have claims and other rights against you as a result of the statements made above.
These Competition Rules shall be governed by the laws of South Africa. You consent to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa, in respect of all matters arising out of or in connection with the Competition Rules.
If these Competition Rules are regulated by the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (“CPA”) or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 25 of 2002 (“ECTA”), it is not intended that any provision of these Competition Rules contravenes any provision of the CPA or ECTA. Therefore all provisions of these Competition Rules must be treated as being qualified, to the extent necessary, to ensure that the provisions of the CPA and ECTA are complied with.
As far as the law allows, neither the Promoters, the sponsors, their respective affiliates, members, nor the directors, officers, employees or agents of the aforementioned, shall be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever which may be suffered as a result of entering this Competition, the provision of the prizes, or any act or omission of any other person. This paragraph does not purport to limit or exempt the Promoter for any loss directly attributable to its gross negligence.
This paragraph limits and excludes obligations, liabilities and legal responsibilities which the Promoters and sponsors may have towards you and also limits and excludes your rights and remedies against the Promoters, sponsors and other persons.
Privacy: For the purposes of this competition, the Promoters and the sponsors may collect and process personal information that you have provided online. Once we have received your information, we will use your personal information in accordance with the WeChat Privacy Policy accessible at http://www.wechat.com/en/privacy_policy.html and we will use strict procedures and security features to prevent unauthorised access and in accordance with applicable laws.
You have the right to ask us not to process your personal information for marketing purposes. We will usually inform you (before collecting your data) if we intend to use your personal information for such purposes or if we intend to disclose your information to any third party for such purposes. In addition, we may use the winner’s image for publicity purposes in any manner we, acting reasonably, deem fit. The winner has the right to decline this.
